Rôle

Partner Ville Alahuhta is Head of Tax in Helsinki, advising on domestic and international tax matters in corporate and personal income taxation. In addition, he specialises in advising private equity fund managers and fund investors on legal questions concerning private equity funds.

Understanding tax questions relating to private equity funds and M&A transactions is a key consideration when optimising profit for an investment. Working this area for more than ten years has given him the understanding of the link between the key business of the client, taxation and other legal aspects. In addition, Ville has been involved in several Finnish landmark tax litigations.

Carrière

Prior to joining Bird & Bird, Ville worked for two other top-tier Finnish law firms. In addition, he has gained work experience from the M&A tax department of a big four audit firm and performed a one-year secondment as an in-house lawyer at a large Nordic private equity company.

In autumn 2021, Ville finished his postgraduate studies at the University of Helsinki, Faculty of Law. The studies focused on the domestic and international tax and legal questions relating to the fundraising process of private equity funds. In addition, he holds a M.Sc (Econ) degree (majoring in finance) from Aalto University.

With a strong academic background, Ville is skilled in generating innovative solutions to complex problems emerging in practice. However, he is, most of all, a practice-oriented attorney at law, whose focus is always on achieving the business goals of the client.
