Mikko Ahonen is the managing partner in Bird & Bird Helsinki office. He has extensive experience advising on a wide range of corporate, M&A and real estate transactions.

Specialising in mergers & acquisitions, corporate and securities law work and real estate transactions, his practice consists of advising both domestic and international clients in their transactional and corporate needs. He regularly advises clients with public tender offers, private equity transactions, complex cross-border transactions, creation of incentive plans for the management and employees, and complex internal corporate restructurings, among others.

Mikko is also one of the leading experts in warranty and indemnity insurances. He advises both the underwriters as the subscribers on all stages of the process from the underwriting up to the end of the claims process. This provides Bird & Bird with a unique access to data from wide range of transactions.

Mikko's post-graduate studies on international business law at King's College have greatly benefited his clients in their cross-border transactions as he is familiar with the different techniques to address common legal problems in the US, UK and Europe.

Before joining Bird & Bird in 2010, Mikko worked for several years at another leading Nordic law firm in Finland.
