CMS is one of the most sought-after addresses for environmental and planning advice and assists with major infrastructure, grid expansion and pipelines projects. In addition to LNG terminals, the team advises across the renewable energy sector and on matters pertaining to offshore wind and hydrogen. It hereby focuses on regulatory issues, emission control, water law, building planning and waste law issues as well as approval and planning approval procedures. Christian Scherer, who is experienced in procurement and infrastructure projects, jointly heads the team with Ursula Steinkemper, who specialises in approval and planning approval proceedings. They are supported by Christiane Kappes (nature and species protection law) and Fritz von Hammerstein, who is experienced in mining law and took on an of counsel position in summer 2024.
