Pinsent Masons LLP‘s London team is ’at the absolute top of its game and a market-leader in international arbitration’. From its well-known roots in construction, engineering and technology disputes, the practice is now full service. Its caseload also currently covers disputes involving shareholder and joint venture agreements, as well as concessions, licensing agreements, insurance, sales of goods, product liability, tax, patents, IT and technology. Co-head of the firm’s global international arbitration group Sylvia Tonova is a March 2023 recruit from Jones Day and is particularly focused on disputes between foreign investors and governments. Charles Blamire Brown‘s experience covers international arbitration proceedings under the ICC, LCIA, UNCITRAL and CEPANI Rules, as well as ad-hoc arbitrations, and Katharine Davies is a highly rated energy disputes practitioner. The practice further includes Jean-François Le Gal, who is ’great at managing both clients and arbitral processes’, Daniel Gardiner, who ‘knows the commercial arbitration space inside out’, and infrastructure and energy disputes specialists Rob Wilkins and Nicholas Brown. Construction disputes practitioner Michael Cottrell also specialises in international arbitration. In July 2024, Jason Hambury, former global co-head of international arbitration, and fellow partners Gurmukh Riyat and Clea Bigelow-Nuttall, left the firm.
