Drawing on the team’s experience working for US regulatory bodies, Katten is well-placed to represent clients in state and federal courts, investigations and regulatory proceedings. The practice specialises in the financial services and insurance industries. Experienced in commercial disputes, class actions and bankruptcy litigation, New York-based David Crichlow leads the team alongside Rebecca Lindahl in Georgia. In Chicago, Peter Wilson handles securities, derivatives, and antitrust litigation, as well as investigations, and Charles DeVore is a go to for publicly traded companies, executives and financial institutions. Also in Chicago, Sarah Weber is regularly called upon by financial services clients, while Elliott Bacon is active in class actions, investigations and enforcement proceedings before financial regulators.

  • ‘Top quality litigation.’

  • ‘David Goldberg demonstrates both the wisdom to recommend an unexpected litigation strategy in response to a claim brought against his new client and a combination of solid lawyering and focus on detail with efficiency to successfully carry-out that strategy in multiple jurisdictions. ’

  • ‘Katten was involved in the sale of our multi-national technology firm to a top 5 PE firm. Key language in the SPA, in particular with earn-out language and very unique triggering mechanisms, played a crucial role in our ability to collect and force payment of the earn-out. Katten absolutely lawyered circles around the opposing firm.’

  • ‘David Crichlow (NY) teamed to successfully drive our contractual earn-out rights though the Delaware arbitration process to obtain a judgment and forcefully collected the judgment from a multi-billion-dollar international PE firm. Without a doubt, Katten's technical skills in the transactional space gives them a clear advantage over competing firms.’

  • ‘Peter Wilson is a standout partner for regulatory enforcement matters - he is acutely attuned to business needs and demands and helping in-house counsel juggle those.’

  • ‘Becky Lindahl is truly one of the best outside lawyers I have ever encountered. Brilliant, talented and an effective advocator, she is also pragmatic and thoughtful. She communicates exceptionally well.’
