Interview avec…

Xavier Delsol, Partner and Chairman of the Board

What do you see as the main points that differentiate DELSOL Avocats from your competitors? DELSOL Avocats’ entrepreneurial venture started over 40 years ago in Lyon. Building on its clientele of SMEs, middle-market companies and non-profit organizations, DELSOL Avocats soon targeted the Paris market and launched in its current form in 2003. It has since grown consistently in workforce, revenue and square meters! This controlled growth aims to cover a wide range of commercial law issues, making it possible to support economic and social stakeholders at all levels of risk, over the short, medium and long terms, and on their French and international operations. Which practices do you see growing in the next 12 months? What are the drivers behind that? We assist our clients in both profit and non-profit sectors in their restructuring and merger transactions. Support towards crisis recovery will certainly intensify in the coming months. What's the main change you've made in the firm that will benefit clients? Considering its dual location as a distinguishing feature on the market, DELSOL Avocats is not neglecting its international presence as the firm assists its clients facing international issues; either French clients with international projects or foreign clients involved in operations in France. The firm therefore launched an Italian desk to inject dynamism into its transalpine activities relying on several bilingual partners and associates. DELSOL Avocats is also an active member of two international networks (TELFA and PARLEX), which gives rise to strong connections with « best-friends » located in Europe, the USA, South America, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Is technology changing the way you interact with your clients, and the services you can provide them? Cybersecurity and data protection are key priorities for the firm. We formed a “Data protection” department as early as 2017 in order to help our clients anticipate and manage these issues adequately. DELSOL Avocats is well aware that being receptive to technical innovation is a requirement, especially in 2021. For quite a long time our teams have been involved in document management optimization in order to always better meet our clients’ needs. The pandemic has obviously resulted in the generalization of remote meetings and we have invested in various tools in order to ensure smooth communication with our clients and within our team members. Can you give us a practical example of how you have helped a client to add value to their business? We assisted a group of companies in the context of the whole restructuring of its governance, holdings and assets in order to improve its performance in a changing market environment. Are clients looking for stability and strategic direction from their law firms - where do you see the firm in three years’ time? Alongside its exponential growth, DELSOL Avocats draws its strength from its system of governance. The Board, an effective management body, comprises five partners and meets weekly to review the various matters on the agenda. At the same time, each of our departments (Corporate – M&A, Non-profit organizations, Employment law, Tax law, Litigation, Real estate, Public law, Life sciences and Personal data) is autonomous in terms of organization and development.
